Tilbury Douglas Construction is the only Principal Supply Chain Partner that has worked with the Department of Health on all iterations of the ProCure frameworks.
Nineteen years later we have delivered over 90 healthcare projects for our NHS clients, totalling over £1.5 billion, covering the spectrum of health services from major acute hospitals to mental health and local community provision. These are delivered by our experienced health teams located in seven regional offices, ensuring personalised local delivery by staff living in the locality.
Our approach comprises partnering with NHS healthcare clients to use existing assets effectively, and to provide new facilities which are efficient and deliver improved clinical outcomes and a better staff, patient and visitor experience. Our solutions draw on the broad expertise of our team and supply chain. The work done at framework level supports national health standards to drive down construction costs and improve capital programme efficiency making every pound of scarce resource count.
Our work includes the UK’s first high energy Proton Beam Therapy unit, designed for The Christie in Manchester to deliver the very best in global healthcare technology for cancer patients. This was located in the heart of the highly congested site and has received multiple awards including a Gold award from Considerate Contractor, and BIM Project of the Year.
More recently we delivered the Nightingale Hospital in Birmingham, where we provided the initial 500 beds in nine days. This increased in number as the scope changed and there was an additional requirement for a 100-bed Intensive Care Unit. Phase 1 of the build became 804 beds, and Phase 2a included an additional 384 beds – a total of 1188 beds.
